Our Gym

At the Cancer Survivorship Center, our gym is designed to support survivors as they build strength, improve mobility, and boost confidence at their own pace. This is not your typical gym. Workouts are functional, non-performance-based, and tailored to each survivor’s journey, taking into account their cancer diagnosis, treatment, and any other physical considerations.
When a survivor visits the gym for the first time, they meet with Olivia, our gym manager, for a personalized introductory session. During this visit, she introduces the gym equipment, discusses the survivor’s goals, and creates a customized workout plan that meets them where they are. From there, survivors can explore the equipment on their own or schedule personal training sessions for one-on-one guidance, whether that means learning how to exercise safely at home, working toward a specific goal, or simply gaining confidence in getting started.

“I want everyone to leave each visit to the gym feeling stronger and more empowered in their recovery. Gym time is your time. It’s a chance to do something for yourself, an act of self-care that is vital to healing.” – Olivia

Oncology Massage

MELANIE EGGLESTON, LMT

Oncology massage offers cancer survivors a gentle way to relax, reduce discomfort, and reconnect with their bodies during or after treatment. Melanie, the center’s Oncology Massage Therapist, ensures that each session is carefully adapted to a survivor’s diagnosis, treatment history, and current needs, creating a safe and calming experience focused on comfort and well-being.
As Melanie explains, “after a cancer diagnosis and treatment, my goal is to help restore a survivor’s sense of well-being and comfort, even if just for the moment, during a session.”
Oncology massage sessions are provided free of charge to cancer survivors.
